Happy holiday

‘April’, my first horse painting goes on holiday tomorrow - it’s the RA Summer Exhibition hand-in. Only time will tell if she gets in or just has a short sojourn in a back room somewhere before I pick her up in a couple of weeks. I’ll keep you posted.

Life painting

Here’s my painting from Saturday, produced in oils in about 2 and a half hours. I struggled badly with this but I think it came right in the end. I can see some areas that need redefining, but ultimately I like it. It’s 14 x 10 inches on oil paper.

Raw quandary

Summer Show

You’ve got to be in it to win it, so again, I’m thinking of entering the RA Summer Show. This year’s theme is RAW, though work doesn’t have to correspond to that. Here are the two I’m thinking of entering, though I might enter one alone. Any (polite) thoughts?… left or right?

Life sketches

I do a lot of life drawing…every other Saturday for three & a half hours…for the past nine years. I daren’t do the maths. So, it stands to reason I’ll have a lot of paintings & drawings from the sessions.

Horses

I have done SO much life drawing. It’s been rather refreshing to try something different, at the London Road Group. I took photos months & months ago of a friend’s horse and final managed a study in oil.
