Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize

Developing as an artist is as much about improving your painting technique as it is about developing a thick skin. Whether that's due to showing your work or entering competitions. Over the years I have entered a few, though, like MANY artists, have inevitably received the kindly worded rejection letter. Even very well-renowned artists get rejection letters, I heard from a well known recipient of one! So it was with much joy, last week, that I received the news that I was one of 21 finalists for the Ecclestone Art Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize (now Women in Art Prize)! The competition is run annually, and thanks to an artist friend of mine who suggested I enter, my piece 'The Journey Home' has made it into the exhibition at Burgh House, Hampstead from 25-29 July. I'm now preparing it for delivery and final judging, where it will join the other 20 paintings - all of them superb - for the judging panel to decide on a winner and runner up. Regardless of winning, I'm absolutely thrilled to have been selected and can't wait for the private view next week!
