Society of Women Artists

Hot on the heels of the Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize, the accepted works were announced this week for the Society of Women Artists annual exhibition and I was SUPER happy to see my name on it!As on my last post, I'm not afraid to say that I've entered many competitions before and not been placed - it takes 10 years to be an overnight success, right? So with grit and determination, I have carried on, rejection letters behind me and chin up. It was heartening to be told by a successful artist that even he gets rejection letters. So this July, I've felt so happy I could cry that I've had pieces of my work selected for two exhibitions. My stitch and oil painting piece, 'She Walks in the Path of those Before Her', a late addition to my stitch series, will be exhibited at the Mall Galleries in the 157th annual exhibition of the Society of Women Artists in late September. The society, which has had royal patronage since 1865, has held an annual exhibition in London since 1857. I'm completely humbled, to say the least, to be associated.Catch the exhibition from Tuesday 25 September at 4.00 to Sunday 30 September 10am to 5pm daily, closing at 3pm on Sunday 30 September.
